Friday

My right eye is sore and has gunk coming out of it so I'm not going to strain it trying to do any crafting today. I'm having a day off, hoping it will have settled down by tomorrow and I'll catch up again then.

I've had a fairly busy day, spent the morning/early afternoon in Crawley with a friend, trawling from shop to shop. It was very busy and I'm ready for a quiet night.

JYC Day 10 and still going strong :)

It's been pretty busy around here today so this is just going to be a quick post as I've still got dinner to make.

Had to pop in to town for a few bits this morning and couldn't get over how busy it was. I ended up standing in queues to pay. Took the dogs for a walk when I got home and stopped in at Mum and Dad's on the way round. I think Wallace appreciated the break, he does battle with the walk sometimes.

Home again and it was time to do a bit more quilting, make lunch for Jon, Hugh and myself and then back to the sewing again. I've now finished the quilting and tied off the ends and threaded them through the quilt. Just the binding left to do on this one.

A super quick layout for Day 10, most of it done in Photoshop Elements. I took a photo of the presents still in their envelopes waiting to be wrapped and printed it off. I then make the journalling block, filled the colour to red and typed in white and finally added the snowflake overlay (Shimelle's, I think). Added my little tree and called it done. The snowflake background paper is our wrapping paper for this year :) xx I forgot to add, it was so mild and beautiful here today that I ate my lunch sitting on the back step outside. It was lovely!

Ticking them off & JYC Day 9

I have started ticking things off my to do list :o). Last night I finished writing all my Christmas cards and today I bought the stamps and posted them. It feels good!! I've spent most of the afternoon quilting - I sandwiched the layers together before lunch and then started sewing. I've done more than I thought I would so I'm really pleased.

Tomorrow I hope to make a start on wrapping presents and checking what I still need to buy. I can't believe it's two weeks on Friday till Christmas, it seems to have come round so quickly!

I am still managing to keep up to date with JYC and today I wrote about our Christmas Eve tradition. This year I'm hoping to go to the 4pm Church service which will still leave plenty of time for the tradition to continue.

Now to carry on pulling through thread ends, tie them off and sew them into the quilt to finish them off.

JYC Day 8

Today has been quite busy and therefore the layout for today has been kept very simple. I'll show the layout first and then chat about the day - if you're interested in hearing about it ;o)

Ok, so what did I do? First stop: took Claire to work, then popped in to the school to sign the consent form for Emily's cervical cancer jabs. (She was so nervous about having them done and I was called after lunch to go and pick her up; she's fine - she just felt a bit dizzy.)

.

It was beautiful outside when I was driving home - and more importantly, not raining! I came in and got the dogs ready to go for a walk straight away; if there's one thing I have learnt, it's make the most of the weather while it's fine. It was an extremely slow walk this morning as Wallace was in a real dawdling mood. I had put his coat on so I guess he didn't feel the need to step it up as he was quite cosy as he was.

Emily had mentioned yesterday that she really fancied some cake and, because I was feeling sorry for her having to have her jab today, I decided to make her some cupcakes. Nothing fancy this time - vanilla cupcakes with vanilla icing (with a dash of food colouring to make the icing pink!). However, when I went to get the mixer out the cupboard, I noticed one of the bottles of mincemeat had started leaking - time to make mince pies?? Sure was! Made some pastry and a batch of mince pies and I have to say, they were delicious! I wasn't sure that home made mincemeat would make much difference but I do think they tasted better - perhaps that was because I knew I'd made the mincemeat, lol!! With all the baking done it seemed only fair to share ;o) so I called Mum and Dad and invited them round for coffee. A most enjoyable afternoon and I'm still feeling quite full.

However, I MUST do some sewing tomorrow!! and write cards tonight!! and post overseas cards tomorrow!! I thought I was doing so well but now I'm beginning to wonder ;o)
