Exciting news :)

14 June 2012

I don't know if you realise how difficult it has been to keep this quiet ;o) but today I am finally able to let you know that I'm going to be a Grandma again!!!

Today Claire went for her 12 week scan. Everything seems to be going well and baby was extremely active - he/she was kicking, waving, possibly sucking their thumb and doing little somersaults! Alice was with us and was quite fascinated that the little blob on the screen was a baby. She kept looking at it and saying "Baby!" over and over.  Now Alice loves her baby dolls - I just hope she loves this little one as much :).

Baby's due date is 29 December 2012 (his/her Aunty Michelle's birthday!).

I've a feeling you may hear a bit more about this in future posts ;o)

I've been having some sensitivity with my teeth for a few weeks so I decided I needed to get a dental appointment to see what was going on. Going to the dentist is not something I particularly enjoy (after a not so pleasant experience a few years ago) so it was a relief to find out my teeth are healthy. I've been advised to rub a particular toothpaste on to the sensitive are for a few weeks to see if it'll help. If it gets any worse I'll have to go back again for x-rays to see what's going on. Fingers crossed that won't be necessary!

I actually forgot to take a photo, so I ended up taking one of my evening cup of Rooibos tea :)

Photo a Day 11 June 2012

11 June 2012
Alice is very independent now and wants to feed herself all the time.  I must admit I did wonder how things would go when she had fromage frais yesterday, but she did so well! She finished the whole thing without spilling  any =)

Photo a Day : 07 - 10 June 2012

07 June 2012
Spent some time in the afternoon playing around with scanning photos. I have a project coming up where I'm going to have to do some scanning and wanted to make sure I knew what I was doing.

08 June 2012
Poor Alice gets fed up seeing me with a camera/iPhone pointing at her.  I had called her a few times before she finally gave up and looked at me :) I like the way it came out though.

09 June 2012
Michelle put this photo of Lily up on Facebook, and I think it's one of my favourites,  so I asked if I could use it for my photo of the day.  Sometimes the more serious ones are the ones that catch my attention.

10 June 2012
Tom, sitting in the bay window this evening - watching the weather (is it really June? You'd be forgiven for thinking otherwise with the weather we've been having recently!) and the birds ;o)

Another weekend gone, half term over and a few GCSE exams for Emily coming up this week. Not all bad though as she has a week's study leave and only has to go in to write the exams she has.

59 Years

My Mum and Dad have been married for 59 years today :)

They were married in 1953, the year of the Queen's coronation, so next year will be their Diamond Wedding Anniversary. In this day and age, I think that's a wonderful achievement and I have a feeling we'll be having some sort of celebration of our own next year!

Congratulations Mum and Dad!
Love you xx

Photo a Day : 05 June 2012

I have a feeling  both the photos below will end up in my Project Life album for this week :)
I think this has to be the photo for the day as it shows us watching the Diamond Jubilee procession on TV while Alice plays with her dolls house and Mac lies close by. She'll then know what was going on in years to come.
However, I just love this one too! Playing games with Uncle Hugh!! On Monday she saw Hugh playing a game which had cows, sheep and chicken in it.  She loved it. Today when Hugh came through, she headed straight for his room, grabbed a controller and asked for the Moos. Uncle Hugh's now one of her favourite people ;o)

Local Diamond Jubilee Parade

On Sunday we had a local parade through East Grinstead to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. Mum, Emily and I went in to town a bit earlier to have a coffee and see if I could get some photos.
We all wore some form of red, white and blue to play our little part - Mum's rings were red, white and blue too :)
Caffe Nero's had their bunting out
There were flags ready to be waved and even the rain wasn't dampening people's spirit
I love people watching and this was the ideal opportunity :)
Even down to patriotic wellie boots
umbrellas
and water proofs.
Loved these little ones with their flags and crowns :)
We ended up standing next to this lady and gentleman. They were such fun and made the wait for the parade that much more enjoyable.
And finally, a few shots of the parade itself

Cheering everyone on :)
Emily's friend, Natalie (light blue hoodie on the left) was part of the guides section.

I'm told this bus was from 1952
The Church's part of the procession
with Minister, Geoff Bell and his dog walking the route too.

We then made it home just in time to see the start of the flotilla on the Thames.  What a wonderful weekend it's been and how fantastic to see all the support for the Queen.

Photo a Day catch-up

01 June 2012
Another blurred photo but I still want to use it in my Project Life album.  This was taken round at Alice's Great Grandma and Great Grandpa's house (my Mum and Dad) where she is quite at home.  She had picked up Mum's headphones and was listening to CBeebies through them :)

02 June 2012
Playing Peek a Boo from behind the washing line pole.  So cute!  (Mac loves to be near Alice and was quite happy to lie there as she played).

03 June 2012
While Mum, Emily and I were waiting for the Diamond Jubilee Parade to start, we got talking to the lady and gentleman next to us.  They were such fun and had us laughing while we waited.  More photos of the parade to come soon.

04 June 2012
As it's a Bank Holiday today (and tomorrow), Jon has been home and he enjoyed being able to get down and play with Alice.
