Keeping it brief

I'm keeping this post brief tonight because my computer keeps freezing on me and I'm getting fed up. I need to run a scan and check for anything that needs fixing but want to get this posted first.
.
Today was Emily's first day back at school, which meant early wake up :o( I knew it wasn't going to be easy getting back into the swing of it and I'm fine while I keep busy but as soon as I sit down, it hits me and I don't want to get up again. I've spent too long on the computer this afternoon and not got half the things I wanted to done.
This was what we woke up to this morning. Emily had been hoping for snow but she needed more than this to get a snow day off school. From what they're saying, the weather isn't likely to improve much over the next week or so. I've been watching the temperature today and according to the Google homepage, East Grinstead hasn't got above 0C today and a few minutes ago it was showing it had dropped to -3C already. Could be a cold night tonight.
.
.
So, apart from feeling tired, I haven't done very well today. I had some allergy testing done a couple of years ago (I think) and was told at the time that I have an intollerance to yeast and dairy. I've been quite good over the Christmas period and been watching what I eat. Today (I'll blame it on feeling tired and lethargic) I've not stuck to my guidelines and have eaten things I know I shouldn't. This evening I'm paying for it and it's not worth it! I don't know why I do it but I do know that tomorrow I will be watching what I eat again!!! It's my own fault :o(
I've been toying with the idea of joining Weight Watchers Online, have any of you used the online service before? I would really like to get my weight down a bit (or a lot even!!) and I also want to try and exercise - please note I didn't say more because there's not much going on at the moment at all. Anyone want to help motivate me, feel free! ;o)
So on that, not as brief as I thought it would be, note I'm going to end off, scan my computer and get an early night. Tomorrow is another early morning! I also thought I'd leave you with a photo of Tom because he hasn't been on the blog for a while. Have a good evening xx

The tree is down

Today, our Christmas tree came down. The decorations have been packed into boxes and I've been able to give the lounge a good vacuum and dust. By the time Emily is about to go back to school I am ready for Christmas to be over and everything packed away.
Decorations in boxes You can see out the window again. .
It's the same each year, once the decorations come down I want to start tidying the house and getting things back in order and up to date. Today I caught up on my ironing again and shredded a bag full of old paper work of Jon's which had been waiting for a while. I've started going through all my magazines to see which ones I want to keep and which ones to either pass on or recycle. The girls are both working on tidying their bedrooms and I can feel some calm returning to our home. It feels good!
Emily asked me a few days ago if I could teach her to crochet. She'd seen a pattern for a scarf and decided she wanted to have a go at making one. I'm really impressed at how she's picked it up and although she is just starting (for the second or third time) in this photo, the scarf is growing and her stitches are much neater and more even now. It's going to look really good when she finishes it. In this photo, she's been framed! Her idea ;o)
.
Hugh has just told me that he's been asked to become a staff member on a website he'd submitted a games review to. They liked what he'd written and have asked him to join them. This is really exciting for him because getting into journalism and writing for magazines or websites is something he would like to do full time. His first task is to get his bio written so he can be added to the staff page. I'm so pleased he's starting out on the road he wants to be on and hopefully good will come from it. The website is http://www.dailyinformer.net/ but it will take a little while before his review is up. Well done Hugh!!

A lazy afternoon

Emily and I enjoyed our meal at Prezzos - we both love their food and it's always a pleasure to go and eat there. While we were waiting for our meal to arrive we took a couple of photos
Emily's self portrait - you can tell she's had a lot of practice
Emily decided to take a photo of me and because of the way the light was coming in decided this was my angelic pose lol!!
.
The rest of the afternoon just seemed to slip by, we did a bit of shopping in town and then headed home. This evening we watched the first of a new dating programme on ITV, not sure what I think of it yet, I'll give it another week before making a decision.
.
Tonight I've decided I have to get to bed a bit earlier and, likewise, get up earlier in the morning otherwise Monday morning is going to be a real struggle! I can't believe the school holidays are nearly over already. Once Emily is back at school it'll be time for me to start some decluttering! For now though, time for bed!

DYL Digital Layouts

This year I'm joining in Cathy Zielske's Design Your Life class as an Alumni. My motivation for joining was the digital templates she's providing and this morning, I've been playing around with the ones for Week 1. I'm not going to stick to the colours for the RWC layouts but rather just use what I've got and play around. Digital scrapbooking is still very new to me but I do like how quickly you can get a layout done :o) (You can click on the photos to read the journaling) In this layout the red dotted paper is K.Pertiet's Spot Dots No 17.
The striped paper is a left over strip of some Imaginisce paper I had in my stash.
Font for Title: Fling LET
This layout is about Emily at 13.
Blue paper is J. Sprague Echoes of Asia - Blue Floral
.
Emily and I are now popping in to town for lunch. Prezzo's are having one of their meal deals at the moment and seeing as I usually take her out for a meal during her school holidays (and schools go back on Monday) we've decided to go today.
