Still more snow!!! :o(

I know you're probably getting a bit fed up with seeing snow photos - I know I am!! However, there's not a lot going on around here at the moment so it's snow photos or nothing I'm afraid! We had a few more snow flurries this morning but it's clear at the moment. More snow is predicted for tomorrow and Monday at the moment.

Emily is keeping busy doing the homework that was set for them and is quite happy. Claire has the day off work so didn't have to walk in this morning. She's back at work tomorrow though. Hugh is still unable to get in to work (as are most of the other people who work with him) and has also aggrivated a recent knee injury by walking in the snow yesterday. Not good! He's finally thinking he may need to see a doctor once we're able to get out and about again whereas, when it first happened, he hadn't felt he needed to.

Icicles!! This is what made me grab my camera in the first place. I have never seen icicles this long before and these were outside my bedroom window

I'm thinking I should go and start sorting through and tidying my kitchen but it feels like a huge task! Am I the only one who has so much clutter on the work surfaces? I go through phases where I'm really good and clear everything off and then keep it neat and tidy for a while but then the piles accumulate again! Over Christmas they have got worse :o( so I guess I really do need to get stuck in and tidy - yeuch!! I do not enjoy housework - it's an evil necessity!! I'd far rather be crafting :o)

Emily's snow rap ;)

Emily is on her third snow day today but this time there's a difference. The teachers have set work for the children to do from home ;o). One of Emily's tasks is to make a snow rap for music. These photos show her performing her rap for me lol!!!

It's about fluffy white stuff falling from the sky

Yo, yo, yo, I'm out in the snow

Going to rap about snow now, yeah!

It's like rain but it's cold

And it's white and it's fluffy, aye!

Like miniature poodles falling from the sky

JYC layouts / Wallace

I got to photograph my final layouts for JYC this morning. I haven't done each one individually but if you click on the photo it should bring them up bigger.

I did a collage for Christmas day and a page for journalling. It's my only double page layout in the album.

Wallace is Emily's dog and we got him just before her 4th birthday which means that he will be turning 10 in June. He has a problem with his legs, especially in the colder weather, and doesn't like to go outside when it's this cold. I don't blame him, I feel the same! Unfortunately, in his case, he has to go outside at least a few times a day ;o) This morning he was finally desperate enough to sit waiting to go out the door and once he got outside he was happy to wander about for a little while.

A quiet day at home

This morning, knowing that we had another snow day, I didn't get up until just after 7am. It was still fairly dark when I came downstairs but by 8.30am you could see the sun trying to come up behind the trees. There was a fair amount of snow on the table on the patio and when Emily went out to measure it she said the average was about 6 inches.

While I was doing the ironing, a little bit later, Emily decided to have a go at making a snowman. She had intended to use the snow in the garden but in the photo below she is showing me that it wasn't sticking together very well

She then thought she may just try and use the snow on the table and make a smaller snowman.

Do you like her technique? Spread your arms wide and scoop in as much as you can in one go.

Form the snow into a mound and you're about done!

This is what she looked like by the time she came inside (and I'm afraid I didn't get out to take a photo of her snow cat :o(

The ironing is now up to date again and I feel much happier!

For the rest of the afternoon I've been finishing off my JYC layouts. I've got them done now but will wait until tomorrow to take photos of them. Another project I'm glad to have finished - though I've just remembered I haven't made a title page yet :o(

This afternoon the clouds started gathering again and I was sure we were going to get more snow. We did have some for a short while mid day but it's been clear again since then. Google is still showing more snow for our area today, tomorrow, Saturday and Sunday! Could be interesting if it's true.

Late this afternoon Jon and I sat in the bedroom and watched a car trying to get out of our road. There were about 4 or 5 people gathered around the car, digging the snow away with shovels. One by one they left and went back to their houses until it was just the driver left. We were sure he was going to get in his car and try again but instead he locked the doors and walked back to one of the houses. Looks like he was just moving his car ready to try and get out tomorrow moring. It's been quite entertaining watching some of the cars trying to get out of our road. That's why my car is still firmly on the drive ;o)
