My little visitor + JYC Day 15

Look who came to visit me today :o) and I couldn't have been happier! Alyssa's Mummy, Daddy and Nan were going to see her big brother in his first Christmas play and I had offered to look after her. Poor little girl has a stinking cold and is so snuffly. She's had it for about 2 weeks and has a real problem breathing with it. I had been warned she may be a bit miserable and grumpy; that she doesn't like going in the car and may scream when we stop but she was as good as gold.
.
The first lesson when she was dropped off was how to put her carseat in my car so I could take her round to my friend Alison's for a quick visit. No problems. We also found that putting a bit of Olbas Oil on a tissue near her so she could breathe in the vapour seemed to help her snuffles a bit. On the way home, she fell asleep in the car and carried on sleeping for a while after we got in the house. I have to admit we did spend a fair bit of time cuddling but at least it meant she got to catch up on some sleep and I loved every minute of it ;o)
This evening I made a quick layout for Day 15. I decided to construct the inner block on Photoshop Elements and print it out in one, then stick it on to the cardstock. I'm quite pleased with the way it turned out but wish I had realised the middle photo needed to be moved very slightly to the right so you wouldn't have seen the white line between the two photos. I'm not going to stress about it though as I'm just pleased to have another day completed.
I'm now ready to go and have a cup of rooibos (redbush tea) and work out what I'm doing tomorrow. Still have a quilt to finish, presents to wrap, lists to make, etc. and Christmas is getting closer day by day.

I'm literally about to walk out the door so I'm just posting the photos for today for now. If I get a chance later I'll blog more.

JYC Day 13

Day 13's page is done and didn't take too long - I have my favourite Christmas CD and it's gone on each year since I was given it. I think the children are probably getting a bit fed up with it. Claire suggested I buy something to alternate with it so I've taken her advice and ordered Ronan Keating's new CD. It hasn't arrived yet and until it does, we'll continue listening to Celine Dion.
Jon and I have been invited to his Bible Study group's dinner tomorrow night and Jon said I would make a pudding. I'm attempting to make a Pavlova! Never made one before so I'm making it at the moment. If it doesn't work out I still have time to make something else tomorrow ;o).
.
I have a glass cake dome/cover that came with a base plate. Since our move, I haven't found the base. Today I decided to look in the garage and go through a few boxes to see if I could find it. My goodness, we have a lot of stuff still sitting there waiting to be sorted through and a LOT of stuff that needs to go to the dump or be taken to a Charity shop (bearing in mind that we moved in here two years ago today!) I've emptied 3 or 4 boxes and put some rubbish in them ready to go to the dump. There is now a path, of sorts, down the centre of the garage but despite all my effort, I still haven't found the base. Whatever I take tomorrow night will just have to go on a different plate with the dome over it. (I'm really hoping the pavlova works out though as I've bought the cream and raspberries to go on it!)

JYC Days 11 & 12

My eye is feeling a lot better today, think it may have been a touch of eye strain yesterday and the rest has done it good. This morning I decided to catch up on the layouts for JYC - yesterday and todays post. One thing about this class is that it's made me stop and think about Christmases past and, unfortunately, made me realise I don't remember an awful lot about them. I've been on the phone to Mum a few times to find out what her memories are and although mine are fairly vague, we seem to have similar memories and Mum can often fill in some of the gaps. Thanks for your help, Mum!
Day 11
Day 12
I now need to get myself sorted out and take Emily in to town for the few bits that she needs. It's part 1 of the final of the X Factor tonight and we're looking forward to sitting down to watch it. Is anyone else watching X Factor - any guesses for who may go out tonight? I think it's such a close final this year and our 3 favourites have got through to the end but I'm finding it really difficult to choose between them.
.
Enjoy your weekend, I hope it's a productive one :)
