Millennium Park

Emily and I had been to Millennium Park on our last visit to Chicago 8 years ago but we were really keen to go back again.  I love The Bean and find it quite fascinating.

I love the reflections most of all, I think.

I also love the Chicago skyline and the building that always stands out for me when I see photos of it, is not Sears Tower or any of the other taller buildings, it's this building on the right with it's "diamond" shape at the top.  To be honest, I'm not even sure what it is, I just know that to me it says Chicago!

Liz was, once again, our photographer - making sure we were both in photos and for that, I am grateful. Thank you, Liz!

Now, there's a bit of a story to the photo below ;-).  It's had us in stitches numerous times!

When we went up to pose in front of The Bean, Liz noticed a young man been photographed by his friend.  He was jumping in front of The Bean and his friend was capturing action shots.  Liz thought it would be a wonderful idea for Emily and me to create the same shot - after all it looked so easy!!!

Do you see why we've been laughing at it so much - lol!  We were laughing so hard at the idea of jumping for a shot that when Liz said JUMP we couldn't even get our feet off the ground!  So funny!! but maybe you had to be there??

Once we'd had our fill of The Bean we walked on to find the faces/fountains. On the tier above them there was a new addition.

To begin with I wasn't sure what these were meant to be but as I started walking around them, realised they were faces.

They're so cleverly done.  Hopefully you can see from the photos that they're not very wide and it's the way the features have been sculpted that gives them their form. Liz isn't so keen on them but the more I look at them, they grow on me.

Finally the faces/fountains.  The faces have changed since we were last here (to be expected after 8 years, I suppose ;-) ) and we agreed there is more water around them.

We had to wait to see the fountains :-)

By this time it was probably around 5pm and despite all the hustle and bustle around us, it was so peaceful sitting in the park, people watching and enjoying our time there.
I'm glad I was able to capture this photo with the reflections in the water before the fountains started.

And finally, back on the bus to go back to the station and home again.

xx
