On My Walk

On 01 August 2013, Norma and I joined Weight Watchers (again ;) ).  I'm happy to say it's going well and I'm still sticking to the plan and have lost weight each week. However, I realised I need to get more exercise too.  I'm not a fan of the gym so have been doing some walking instead.  We're lucky where we live because we have a footpath (for want of a better word) a couple of minutes from our house called Forest Way. It's an old railway line which has been built up and smoothed out and runs from East Grinstead to Forest Row through countryside.

Norma has done quite a bit of walking but I'm afraid I've not been that energetic.  We started out walking together (with Norma encouraging me ) but now that Norma has started teaching I tend to walk on my own.  I walk for 15 minutes down the path then turn and walk back again. A half hour walk seems fair enough to me.  A lot of people use Forest Way - dog walkers, joggers and people just out for a walk, so I feel quite safe. Today my walk seemed easier and I walked a bit further than normal in my 15 minutes - I'm taking this as a sign that I'm getting a little bit fitter ;)

Here are a few of the photos I took with my phone along the way.

Aren't these berries a stunning colour against the green leaves.  I didn't realise until I uploaded the photo that there was a fly in the photo too ;)

Today I walked to just past this sign

Then turned round and started back again.

I love this bridge and there is actually a road over it, though you seldom see cars on it.

One of the little paths leading off the main track. There's a little gate at the top and I think one day I need to follow the path and see where it leads to.

I love looking over this gate and seeing if any of the animals are in the field.

Today it was empty.  The cows had been in a different field when I walked down but by the time I walked back they'd gone - milking time perhaps?

Nearly home - the main road is where you see the light at the end of the path.

This afternoon I was able to have my lunch outside on the patio.  It's been a while since I've done this because we've had so many wasps and as soon as you sat outside with food, they'd arrive.  Now that it's cooler they're not there any more.  I wonder how much longer I'll be able to do that.

Tomorrow's walk will be in to town to meet friends for coffee. Even the hills are getting slightly more bearable ;)

More baby smiles and a resolution (perhaps!)

These next few photos are just because Alice is so cute!! If you're getting fed up with looking at baby photos you might be better off coming back another day ;o)

As for the resolution part - I don't normally make resolutions at all because I never keep them. This year however, I would like to go down a dress size by the end of the year. I started back at Weight Watchers at the beginning of September last year wanting to lose a stone before Alice was born. I was close! I finally lost my first stone the week after Alice was born. I then fell off the wagon a bit as life was fairly hectic with a baby in the house and I stopped going to Weight Watchers.
Last night, however, I went back to face the music and it wasn't as bad as I had thought - I'd put on 3.5 pounds since the end of November.   Now I have to get back in the right mindset, I need to take the time to read through the new ProPoints diet and start tracking again. I couldn't get my head round the new ProPoints in November which was one of the reasons I stopped going but I need to now climb on board.

I went down one dress size when I lost the stone but realise it may take me a bit more to go down another dress size. I'm not in a hurry, I just want to feel better in myself and hopefully at the same time start exercising more and become a bit fitter. I had been walking Cloud each day but when the snow arrived, that stopped too so it's time to get back to getting out each day. I don't know that I'll post about it regularly but by putting it out here I'll feel more accountable and hopefully by the end of the year, you may see a difference if I post a photo of myself ;o)

Now to go and start reading through the programme ready for my start tomorrow!

While we wait ...

It's now 3 days and counting ;o).  Claire is feeling rather large and the bump is feeling heavy. We try to get out and do something each day but despite this, we know we're playing the waiting game now. The weather has been pretty miserable (to put it mildly) and it's certainly not helping Claire feel like she wants to go out for walks so she's sitting and bouncing on the exercise ball instead. We don't know whether it's doing much but it's more comfortable than sitting on the floor, which is what she had been doing.

Poor baby doesn't have much room to move around anymore

After hearing that she may be looking at a top 8 pounder (seeing as Alice is now virtually at due date) Claire decided it might be a good idea to wash the 0 - 3 month clothes, in case Alice outgrows the newborn clothes  very quickly.
So, yesterday I had some little clothes on the clothes airer :o)
And taking my mind off it all is the new Weight Watchers programme we were given on Wednesday night. They've changed the points system and we now have to count Protein, Carbohydrates, Fat and Fibre instead of just Calories and Saturated Fats. It's taking some getting used to and I don't know how well I'll do this week as I come to terms with it. I'm 1.5 lbs off my first stone and I would love to have lost it by the time Alice makes her appearance but if she's on time I don't think it's going to happen. That's fine, I think baby making her appearance is far more important at this stage :o)  Will keep you all posted as soon as we have news.
