Wakehurst Place

The weathermen got it right and today we have sunshine and temperatures of 9C - it feels wonderful! My sister-in-law, Debbie, asked if I fancied going for a walk round Wakehurst Place and that's where we've been most of this morning.
Wakehurst Place
One of the first things we saw when we got in to the grounds was that the duck pond was frozen over. There were seagulls standing on the ice, squawking away. Perhaps they were confused by the ice?
A little bit further round these ducks were all standing near the edge where the ice was melting
We went for a walk around the upper level because the ground was still a bit slippy and some of the paths had been cordoned off to the lower level. With the snow melting, the water was flowing quite quickly over the little waterfalls.
On the way back up towards the mansion I had to take another photo of the frozen pond from the other side ;o)
.
There was a photography exhibition in the grounds with some beautiful shots. Unfortunately although they were protected from the elements there was a lot of water on the outer covering which made it pointless trying to get decent photos. Lovely to walk around and see what was on display though.
.
Not sure what I'll be doing for the rest of the afternoon. I do want to have a look online for some material for the next quilt I have been asked to make. Decisions, decisions ;o)
Hope you are enjoying your weekend and that you've got some nice weather too.
xx
