10 000 Steps and a card

I started wearing my pedometer yesterday so that I could get an idea of how many steps I take in a day. I know that the recommended daily is 10 000 but had no idea how many I might take. So, I took Cloud for her walk, I walked home from town after meeting my friend Sarah for a coffee and I was on my feet around the house and up and down the stairs. I was really shocked when I checked to see how many steps I'd taken just before I went to bed. Only 5 384!! Wow!
.
Today I've worn it all day again and as I sat down to type this, I took a photo to show how many steps I've taken today.
It's better than yesterday but still nearly 3000 short of the recommended daily. Today I took Cloud for her walk, went into town and walked around town and I've been on my feet most of the day. I'm going to have to look at going for a longer walk or a couple of walks a day just to try and get my step total up more. Do any of you wear a pedometer, do you hit 10 000 steps a day? I'd be interested to know how you reach your target.
To end tonight, a photo of the card I made for a friend's birthday. I think if you click on it you should be able to see it more clearly.
Have a good evening.
xx

  1. I walk pretty much everywhere everyday, so it would be interesting to see how many steps I do daily. Don't be so hard on yourself, you're doing great, and probably much, much more than many people.
And that is a very sweet card. :)

  2. Sounds like you're doing lots of exercise - I can't believe you're not hitting 10000! Maybe a bit of jogging on the spot whenever you'd otherwise be standing still?!

Love the card, so delicate and pretty x

  3. Urgh!

I used to wear a pedometer and would hit around 12,000 a day BUT I was walking, running - during the treadmill during the winter etc etc.

Since I stopped running and then last Fall when I stopped swimming - we haven't done enough activity!! walking the dogs hasn't been enough! After Easter we start swimming, running etc etc again and I'm looking forward to that!! We hibernate too much in Winter over here!

Last year Susannah had to wear a pedometer every day for a couple of weeks for a health thing the Province was doing - certain students were picked so they could track the health and activity of children. She also had to write down when she took it off for things like swimming or was cycling etc. I was proud that she was one of the most active even though she isn't signed up for scheduled activity classes.

  4. The last time I wore a pedometer I was working full-time, and 10,000 steps a day was NO problem. If I went to the gym or walked with my neighbor I was way over. Now I would hate to see the numbers! I wonder where ours is???

Love the card. Are the flowers pre-made or a punch?

  5. Don't be too hard on yourself! When I worked in a reference library we had to go up and down a flight of stairs every time we fetched a book, so we got a pedometer because we thought it would say we were walking about 10 miles a day! Turned out to be nothing like that and we couldn't believe it lol. You sound to me like you are doing just fine :)
