London (Photo heavy!)

On Sunday Simon and I took the boys up to London to do the touristy bit. Emily had been going to come with us but woke up full of cold and decided to stay at home :o( . We opted to go on the open top buses as that gives you an overall view of London and you can hop on and off as you want. As it was, we stayed on the bus most of the time getting off where we wanted to walk the rest of the way. Richard and Simon on the bus with Trafalgar Square behind them.
They were just about to change the guards over but the bus couldn't stop long enough for us to see it.

In front of Buckingham Palace. The Union Flag was flying at the Palace which meant that the Royal Family was not in residence. When the Royal Family are in residence the Royal Standard flies.
From Buckingham Palace we walked back to Victoria Station to catch the train home. Richard took the opportunity to do some drawing on the train, while Henry was happy to listen to his music and watch the passing scenery.
.
After our day in London, we arranged to order pizza in for the children while Simon, Jon, Deb and I went out for a meal at the local Thai restaurant. A more relaxing way to end the day :o)

  1. What a fun-filled day! How long does it take you to get to London? I would love to live nearby a big city; there is always so much to see and do.

  2. You've got some fab photos there! Can you feel a page or two coming on? I love those buses..it's a brilliant way of seeing a lot. Though we ended up in raincapes when we did it..

  3. Karen, it takes us an hour by train to get into the centre of London. We don't go very often but I do enjoy the odd touristy day out.
Sian, we were so lucky on Sunday. It rained for a very short period and then it was fine for the rest of the day. Although they threw out the rain capes, we didn't need to use them :)

  4. If I ever visit London I want you to be my tour guide! These photos are great and make me want to see all those places in person.

Looks like you are showing your guests a great time. Enjoy! :o)

  5. After so many years it was great to see the boys in the flesh and looking so grown up. Dad and I really appreciate how Simon takes time to come and see us when he is over here in this area. Hope Henry wasn't too jet lagged when he went back to school. xxx

  6. Awww those pictures remind me of when we were there a year ago - Abigail loved riding round on the buses and getting on and off - and going upstairs on the bus!! I wasn't impressed with going on the London Eye (and I think Abigail had expected it to go fast like a ferris wheel lol) but she loved being in London so no doubt the boys with you did too!!!

Great pictures - looks as though a wonderful time was had by all!!
