Claire's room

Claire had a 3 day weekend last weekend and decided to get stuck in and tidy her room. Believe me, it needed it!! She now has 3 bags of clothes outside her door - I'm not sure if these were just what she picked up from the floor or if they're clothes she's cleared out of her cupboard as well - I don't really want to know details. The downside of this clearing out process is that she sorts out stuff she no longer wants (or needs) and then brings them downstairs for me ;o)
A basket full of hangers (probably because the clothes are all in those black bags)
And things to go to the Charity shop. I will now need to bag these up and take them to the shop otherwise they are likely to lie around the house for a while yet.
.
I'm not actually complaining, I am extemely grateful she's sorting it out - for her sake and mine! She feels so much better when her room is tidy, which I can totally understand. Now to keep it nice and tidy - please!!

Wakehurst Place layout

My first layout for 2010! I was really pleased with the photos I took today at Wakehurst Place so I decided to use one of Cathy Zielske's templates from DYL 2010 to do a quick layout. I altered the template slightly by extending the photo on the bottom right and I also switched off a couple of layers that I didn't want to use. I then printed the pages on glossy photo paper, trimmed them down, layered them on blue card and then on to the black card. Super simple but I'm fine with that and I like the fact that the morning has been documented. :) You can click on the photos for a larger view if you want.
Sorry the photos aren't brilliant. Trying to find somewhere where I can take photos at night without getting shadows on them is virtually impossible. I could have waited till morning but wanted to get them on to the blog tonight.
Off to have a cup of tea (and possibly a few squares of Bournville chocolate!) and relax.

PS> Hugh has just told me someone's just posted on Facebook that we're supposed to have heavy snow again on Wednesday - I hope they're joking!!!!!

Wakehurst Place

The weathermen got it right and today we have sunshine and temperatures of 9C - it feels wonderful! My sister-in-law, Debbie, asked if I fancied going for a walk round Wakehurst Place and that's where we've been most of this morning.
Wakehurst Place
One of the first things we saw when we got in to the grounds was that the duck pond was frozen over. There were seagulls standing on the ice, squawking away. Perhaps they were confused by the ice?
A little bit further round these ducks were all standing near the edge where the ice was melting
We went for a walk around the upper level because the ground was still a bit slippy and some of the paths had been cordoned off to the lower level. With the snow melting, the water was flowing quite quickly over the little waterfalls.
On the way back up towards the mansion I had to take another photo of the frozen pond from the other side ;o)
.
There was a photography exhibition in the grounds with some beautiful shots. Unfortunately although they were protected from the elements there was a lot of water on the outer covering which made it pointless trying to get decent photos. Lovely to walk around and see what was on display though.
.
Not sure what I'll be doing for the rest of the afternoon. I do want to have a look online for some material for the next quilt I have been asked to make. Decisions, decisions ;o)
Hope you are enjoying your weekend and that you've got some nice weather too.

The snow is nearly gone :)

More rain again today and the snow is nearly gone! This afternoon Emily and I both looked outside and saw the snow had nearly disappeared and said "Good! Now it's time for the rain to stop!" :) You just can't please us, can you! If they've got the weather right for tomorrow I look forward to a sunny day! The last of Emily's snow cat on the table and you can see a couple of white patches on the pebbles.
This morning I met up with my friend Pam and we went to Caffe Nero for coffee. We met at 10am and I think I got home around 1.30pm - we had a LOT of catching up to do :) What a pleasant way to spend a Saturday morning!!
.
When I got home I got some happy mail, the next season of ER :) and some more yellow ink for my computer and my next lot of contact lenses. Happy mail indeed!!
.
Other than that, things are quiet. We bought the weekend sweets from Wickendens (Jane, did Lloyd ever go to Wickendens on his way through East Grinstead?) and will be watching Take Me Out on TV tonight (then maybe some ER??). I've wasted time on the computer this afternoon and haven't done any decluttering today. Still thinking about where to tackle next - might see what I can clear out of the lounge. I recently found this blog from this one and have been enjoying going through her posts and seeing her house - wouldn't it be lovely to live somewhere so organised!! Everything has a place and is in that place - bliss! I don't know that it's likely to work in our house anytime soon though :( haha!!
.
Jon is busy making me an omlette at the moment so I'm going to end off and go and relax for the evening.
Enjoy your weekend
